O come Emmanuel
Wow. Tonight we (Emily, Suzy, Jonny, Steve, Megan, Lisa and I) went to Emily's grandparent's house in Burien for the annual tree-lighting ceremony. After delish appetizers up at the house, we all wandered down the street for the ceremony. What beauty did await our eyes when we saw that the entire neighborhood had turned out to celebrate Christmas. A rock band was banging out "O come Emmanuel" on electric guitars in the gazebo while the words played across a projector screen in the yard. Cookies and hot cocoa were for the taking in the garage and lights bedecked the stored bicycles and even some of the other guests. When the tree was lit, hmm . . . a picture really is worth a thousand words here. I don't think we took any snaps but wow. It looked like someone scrambled to the top, dropped a few tangles of lights on six of the branches and then jumped out to safety. It was spectacular.
