Oh delish. Apparently not an acquired taste.

So every year the Seattle Weekly (one of the two indie-ish papes up here . . . and decidedly the cleaner one) does "Best of Seattle". They have a reader's poll on just about everything from "Best Cupcakes" (which went to Cupcake Royale that makes a lavender cupcake that is sheer sugar/heaven) to "Best Spot for KnickKnacks and Kitchy Weirdness" (which went to Archie McPhee and one look at their website will have you agreeing with this too) to "Best Local Frozen Dairy Indulgence, Gelato Division". Anyway, in this lovely town of uber-snobs, the food categories are hotly contested. People even take their bahn mi (yummy Vietnamese sandwiches) seriously. Noticeably, coffee is not one of the categories, undoubtedly due to the rioting that would ensue. Anyway, Friday afternoon as I rode home on the 70, I was perusing the foodie categories when to my shock and delight was this category: "Best Peanut Butter and Bacon Burger". What!!! How have I lived in this city for five years and not known about this? I love peanut butter . . . and bacon . . . and burgers. Now, my brother would warn you that when you put three things you love together, it becomes unpalatable, but this was not the case. I went to King's Hardware, a hip restaurant/bar in Ballard with a few friends last night. We seated ourselves on the brick walled patio out back under the canvas and globe lights and ordered "The After-School Special" which came with sweet potato fries (click on the menu picture for a better view). It was delicious. The rich peanut butter was layered on the bottom bun under the burger while the crisp bacon was sitting on top so that the flavors only mix when you take a bite. Surprisingly, this isn't the only place in Seattle that serves it. What a town!

I think I've told you this before, but the Colombians put strawberry jelly on their hot dogs. While I was in Munich, I got lots of strange looks as I cut open a croissant, slathered in the strawberry jelly and a nurenburger sausage. Wonderful stuff.

Sounds strange but tasty.
